Love:
Biblical References
Sharing
St. Matthew recounts a story of how Jesus fed a large crowd which had come to hear him by sharing a boy's lunch with everyone (Jn. 6.1-14; cf. Matt. 14.13-21, Mk. 6.31-44 and Lk. 9.12-17).
The way of love
St. Paul wrote that love is patient, kind, not arrogant or rude, does not insist on its own way, is not irritable or resentful, celebrates what is right not wrong, believes and hopes and endures all things (1 Cor. 13.4-7).
Forgiveness
The Lord's Prayer includes the petition "forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors" (Matt. 6.12; cf. Lk. 11.4).
When Peter asked Jesus if he should forgive someone who sins against him up to seven times, Jesus answered that he should forgive up to seventy times seven (Matt. 18.21-22).
On another occasion Jesus said “Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you" (Luke 6.37-38; cf. Matt. 7.1-5).
Unity/solidarity
Jesus prayed that who believe in him "may be one" so that the world may know God's love
(Jn. 17.21)
St. Paul wrote to the Colossians, urging them "Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony" (Col. 3.14).
